YOGYAKARTA – PART 3

Besides Borobudur and Prambanan, there are also other temples to visit. Estimated there are more than 20 temples in Java alone.

We visited Chandi Sambisari, (Shiva Temple), it’s took 15 minutes driving time from Yogya city centre to this temple and it is located in the centre of a village surrounding with paddy fields.

This temple was accidentally discovered by a farmer in 1966, earlier it was covered by volcanic ashes which preserved it for 1100 years. The temple was buried about five metres underground.

This temple was built 1200 years ago. I thank the Government of Indonesia for preserved and well maintain all these sites. If these were in Afghanistan, they would destroy it long ago.
