About Mugen

I’m Mugen, from Singapore, married and currently live in Singapore. I always have a great passion in traveling. I started this blog to document all my travel experience and the memories. I’m not an expert on traveling, but I believe my posting will give some ideas about the destinations.

Besides traveling, I love reading books. Osho and J Krishnamurti’s book are my best travel buddies. I don’t like novels and fiction books, my favorite subject of books are Philosophy, History and Psychology. Likewise, I always love to travel historical and mysteries place.

My dream destinations are ; Tromso,Norway ; Mount Kailash,Tibet ; North Korea ; Santorini, Greece ; Siberia, Russia (Train Journey) and Antarctica. My all time favorite destination is India. Among all the cities I have visited, I love Varanasi and Venice.

I travel not for relax but to explore and I’m not for luxury travel, I’m always on budget.

My grandfather was one of the engineers involved in the Kalka-Shimla line so I’d love to hear any details you or anyone may know about it and this fascinating part of the world.

      I have never travel on indian train, I love train journey but I couldn’t get any opportunity yet. Kalka- Simla train, or I guess it could be “Toy Train” is one of the best train journey in India. I wish one day I could travel on that train. It’s really great to know that your grandfather was one of the engineer for the train line. Like you grandfather many westerners has contribute great amount of work for india’s development. Even though I’m not born in India but my grandfather was from india, we really appreciate your grandfather’s contribution. Definitely, I will go to Shimla, most probably this October. I will update you on my travel about the train journey. Glad to know you and Have a good day… Cheers.

      Hello Jill,
      Small world – I am from Shimla and lived the early part of my life there. We always say in Shimla that had it not been for the Britishers we wouldn’t have the railway from Kalka to Shimla. It surely is an engineering marvel from the time. The route has 103 tunnels on its way from kalka to Shimla.

    This is beautiful. I love your more detailed descriptions of the different cities in India. I always get carried away with the sense of a place and tend to leave out the practical things. You cover a lot of ground smoothly, and nice photos too!

Others that dwell in my memory are Australia, Chennai, Interlaken, anywhere in France (and Italy for that matter) and the good ole mountains of North Carolina.
